Abraham Lincoln Quote on Success - A Lesson for Aspiring Writers

Writers often ask me how to become successful as an author. My typical response is that “There is no ONE secret to success.”

As a writer, you have to be knowledgeable about the process of writing (e.g. basic grammar, punctuation and syntax rules) and then you have to do extensive research on your intended topic.  From that point on, it is a matter of putting in the hours required to weave the correct words together to form a logical thought that conveys your intended message.

Writing is not easy. It is a tedious and solitary function that many people do not have the patience or personality to perform effectively. If you commit yourself to the craft, there are many intrinsic and extrinsic rewards possible. Only you can set a goal for personal attainment and decide when you have reached it or whether it was worth the effort.  People who persist often find that the more they write; the more they want to write.
